A collaboration originally started in 2010 by experienced Brasilian music enthusiasts from accross Ireland, the group have now developed from being a community of experienced drummers into Ireland's national Maracatu Band. Members hail from Belfast, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny Sligo and Wexford, members travelling the length and breadth of the country for regular rehearsals, testimony to the quality and dedication of the members that play together.
Baque Virado - We are a band from Southend, working throughout Essex, with shows, in schools, with children and adults. Playing Samba, Samba Reggae, Maracatu plus other traditional rhythms of Brazil.

Maracatudo Mafua is a London-based maracatu group. Through voices, music and dance we share the power of maracatu - a traditional Afro-Brazilian rhythm, dance and culture from the northeast of Brazil.
Recently gifted with Choreography from Anderson Nogueira ( Maracatu Nacao Pernambuco) Mafua is with a full show with Royal Characters and its flowing movements take you on a journey of full colours and community joy!

Our colours represent the orixas and energies we get inspired from Yellow for Oxum ( wealth), Red/Pink for Iansa ( Strenght) and White for Oxala ( Peace) and through the songs we express the message and poetry that this incredible culture has!
Maracatu Cruzeiro do Sul is a Brighton based drumming, singing and dancing group. Formed in 2007 by Paul Dodd the group performs styles from the North East of Brazil including Maracatu, Coco, Baiao, Ciranda and Afoxe.
This 35+ piece Maracatu mob specialise in blasting out the rootsy rhythms of the Northeast of Brazil. With influences including Maracatu Nação, Maracatu Rural, Côco, Caboclinho, Ijexá, Ciranda, Samba Reggae, and even Guaguanco, our Pernambuco-geeksome gang features drummers, dancers, singers, and melody instrumentalists (bass, guitar, violin, and flute). Maracatu Estrela do Norte was formed in 2002 by Sam Alexander. We are a drumming group based in London that plays Brazilian folkloric music from the Pernambuco in the North East of the country, focusing on Maracatu from Recife and Olinda in particular.
