Samboeire

Founded in1997 in Drumshanbo Co Leitrim by Sean Callagy, Klaus Vormehr and Peter Crann. Since 2005 they are based in Sligo town where they continue to run weekly workshops and special workshops through the year. They play mostly samba reggae and funk, few fusion pieces with a strong Cuban influence. Various core members of the group share the musical direction and lead different pieces, some of them have also studied or are currently studying Afro Cuban and Afro Brazilian Percussion. The weekly workshop are dynamic and fun, it's a great social opportunity. New members are always welcome, no experience needed. 20 to 30 people attend the workshop every Tuesday from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Youth Theatre at the Factory Complex on Lower Quay Street.
