GRUPO SAMBaFRIQ CHORLEY

Founded in January 1998 when members of Manchester School of Samba living in Chorley decided to form Escola de Samba Chorley, becoming SambAfriq in 2003 and Grupo SambAfriq in 2009.

Our Musical Director is Eraldo Marques.

The group meets every Friday from 7pm to 10pm at The Tatton Centre which is Windermere St, Off Eaves Lane (directly behind Stagecoach Bus Depot) Chorley, Lancashire. PR6 0PR We are a voluntary organisation with a constitution, run by its members, open to all members of the community subject to some basic rules.

As a community band we welcome people, any age, with or without musical experience. We do regular gigs which are open to any member of the band.

We play all Brasilian styles including Samba, Samba Reggae, Afoxe, Maracatu, Afro bloco, Coco and other styles from various parts of Brasil. Come and join us, you'll love the funky sound and you'll love playing with us on the street and having a laugh!
