Rabo de Foguete

Rabo de Foguete combine the best of Brazilian popular music with the power of a bateria. This 12-piece plays everything from Jorge Benjor to Lenine, offering a vibrant show that mixes traditional and contemporary material into a high energy performance. Inspired by the samba-funk-rock fusion of Monobloco and drawing on experienced Norwich-based sambistas and musicians, Rabo seek to bring Brazilian music to a wider audience.
The band was started by Marcus Patteson and Jon Cann in 2008, inspired by Rio group, Monobloco. Marcus had a residency with Monobloco’s bateria for the 2008 carnival season, and organised the band's 2008 tour of the UK and Ireland. Rabo started out playing Monobloco’s arrangements but has gone on to produce their own arrangements of songs they love.
Following on from involvement in the UKCCA's Carnival Crossroad project in 2011, we will be running a monthly bloco that will work on a range of material. Please get in touch for more details.
