Timba stand
Vamanos have a timba (90cm x 14" head) and I am in the process of designing & constructing a stand for it so Natalie can play it at the desired angle; has anyone else tried this? Commonly available conga stands will only hold the drum straight up, & usually too high. A strap is impractical as we have to be able to change instruments very quickly. I'll post some sketches of the design if I can work out how. If it's successful we should be able to make more for other players, if interested! Paul.

Hi, I have tried using conga stands briefly for timba but stopped pretty quickly because I realised the thinner wood would be in danger of splitting under the pressure! If you could design one that holds the drum evenly around the edge, or holds it up closer to the head of the drum, I'd be interested.
